Mobile phone dealers in Lagos Nigeria are smiling to the bank

In Lagos Nigeria there is a very high demand for mobile phones owing to the need to communicate with people who naturally are miles away. Transportation in Lagos Nigeria although currently undergoing a major transformation is anything but impressive at least until the present levels of infrastructural development is improved upon (that is not to say the efforts by the Lagos State government is not yielding fruits in that sector however there is still room for improvement).

As a result of time and convenience factors people in Lagos Nigeria have found it more convenient to make phone calls in order to exchange pleasantries and carry out other forms of communication with friends and loved ones than use other means at their disposal this explains why mobile phones are in high demand. But there is a trend now spreading among Lagos Nigeria residents (Lagosians) which could mean different things to different people. For instance, certain individuals might consider having a fancy phone necessary hence when a trendy phone is released to the local market there will suddenly be a mad rush to have this phone

Mobile Phones in High demand

Like I have already pointed out people in Lagos Nigeria don’t seem to get tired of buying phones and the reasons are usually these;

1. Stolen phones

Clearly the most common reason, people buy phones because their old or previous phones have been stolen. The main reason mobile phone theft is common is because most people leave their phones unattended when not in use. This is especially true when they need to charge their phones. One newspaper report estimated that more than 3 million phones are stolen every year.

2. Missing and misplaced phones

Another reason for replacing a mobile phone is they are misplaced. Some one could carelessly leave his/her phone in a bus, taxi or public place and are unable to retrieve them again.

3. Damaged phones

Some people have their phones damaged mostly by accident. Imagine your mobile phone falling into a bucket of water, it becomes damaged instantly or your mobile phone dropping from a moving vehicle or a high rise building, this is common with ladies who carry their phones in their hands.

4. New and more elegant phones

Some people replace old phones for flimsy reasons like wanting to have the most trendy or expensive phones. The moment they realize that that fancy phone of theirs is gradually losing its mass appeal they begin shopping for a replacement. Trust ostentatious ladies and social climbers this is what they do so often.

5. Financial challenges

Some people sell off their more expensive mobile phones to buy cheaper ones they can put up with.

Where to find mobile phone dealers in Lagos Nigeria

So are you intending on going into resale of mobile phones or just want good bargains here are some places to check out for affordable yet original mobile phones.

1. Computer Village (located in Ikeja)

In my opinion it is the best place to shop for a phone because phones are not only cheaper here but tend to also come with warranties as well. However you might occasionally run into fraudulent shop owners but this is rare.

2. Saka Tinubu in Victoria Island

Most of the dealers in this market are reputable dealers however their phones are more expensive and are located far from the mainland which is where most Lagos residents live and work.

3. Alaba international market in Ojo

Africa’s largest electronics market certainly has dealers in the lucrative mobile phone market. This is another place to buy from but computer village is clearly preferable.

4. Idumota market on Lagos Island

This is another good place to go shopping for mobile phones but the market is so big and rowdy that finding your way round may be a big task in itself.

Popular Mobile Phone brands in Lagos Nigeria
